The Executive Team is a vital component of the organization. The Bible says “Where there is no Vision; the people perish.” Having a Dream and having Vision are two different things. The Bible says that “your old men shall dream dreams; your young men shall see visions.” A Dream is something that may be off in the distance. A Dream is a goal for future generations. A Vision is something that will shortly come to pass. Visionaries don’t just see a distant goal; they seek out the paths to reach that goal.
Vision refers to eyesight. A Vision isn’t just a fixation of the mind; it is something that we perceive to be within our grasp. We must see it to believe it; we must believe it before we can do it. It is the primary responsibility of the Executive Team to provide Vision for the organization. The Executive Team is the primary source of direction and planning. The Executive Team is able to execute short term goals without losing sight of the long term Vision.
